Tonight I’m contemplating:
-Turning 25. A quarter of a century. About 2 more months to go. I’m ready to be a strong, independent 25 year old WOMAN. THAT’S what 25 will look like.
-Movies made post-2005 take place in the 90′s. We’re talking “Something Like Love,” “Love and Other Drugs,” and “Definitely, Maybe.” More specifically, the nostalgia factor that comes from hearing the soundtracks to said movies, and the thoughts that accompany. What if I were 25 and single in the 90′s? Hahaha big eyebrows and email being the new hot shit. Pagers, belly-baring tops, and high-waist jeans.
-Long Beach. And my love for the people who reside there.
-Aqualung and Nicki Minaj. Because I’m just that type of girl WOMAN.
-Stupid mother effin cars. I don’t even care about cars. ALL I WANTED WAS SOMETHING RELIABLE WITH BLUETOOTH. Okay, yes, I wanted something looking somewhat current. As in, something from the last 8 years would be a-ok. I’ve paid a LOT less to have an unreliable car. Now I’m left stranded in the middle of downtown LA in rush-hour traffic, in Anaheim post-midnight, the freeway on the way to work… BULL.SHIT.
-Summer is here and it feels… strange. But amazing. Run a 5k? Okay! Nap in the park surrounded by friends? Sure! Take a 4 hour nap? Why not?!? Go to dinner and dancing? But of course! Have friends over to “wine down?” Lovely times. Then again… that’s just a typical beautiful weekend.
-The realization that I was effectively single for over a quarter of the school year. I remember leaning my head against the wall as students took midterms, groaning over the disaster that my love life had become. Yes, life was GLAMOROUS in those days. Strange now to think that such a large chunk of the year was spent in relationship purgatory.
-Breaks in relationships: a lie to make one person feel better, OR the trick to “beating the system” of going through a break-up? Time will tell.
your car broke? is it the transmission?
So far, all they’ve been able to tell me the 2 times I took it in to the dealer (warranty) is that it “shouldn’t be doing this.” They supposedly fixed it, reset the computer, etc, but I’ve been left stopped on the side of the road, so… that’s not fixed.
It’s currently in for the 3rd time this month.
