Today I strolled into my Spanish class just over 10 minutes late and I was still definitely not the last person to show. The infamous Demetrio tried to give us a quiz but everybody just stared at him so he decided not to. Out of no where some students walked in with soda, coffee, and tamales and we dedicated a THIRD class meeting to eating Mexican food and doing not much of anything else. Oh, and the class is cancelled for Wednesday. So yes, the workload in Spanish continues to be based on how much food I can manage to shove in my mouth and nothing else. Good times.
Apart from this, school is definitely starting to pick up its pace. Like most college students, the due dates for term papers and final exam dates are fast approaching for me, and at times it can be a bit stressful. Every single one of my grades is borderlining right now, so I have to do extra credit for all of my classes to ensure I get A’s instead of B’s and one B instead of a C. My other school concerns have been about next semester and next fall. I am excited though a bit weary to see how everything turns out.
In all honesty though, this semester has been very enjoyable. Autumn is such a great time of the year. Of course, it would help if it was a bit cooler, but that is as far as my complaints go. I have had such a good time with everybody, and had so many good conversations with those around me. It seems like the past few months have very much been about getting to know people on a deeper level. Thanks so much to the people who have done this with me, because it has meant a lot and has helped me out greatly.
Also, thanks to those of you who continue to read this website! It means a lot that you guys continue to check back. I know that a lot of the things I write about will not be interesting to people who do not know me in real life; my writing is not for the masses. Regardless, thanks to the few of you who do check in occasionally despite only knowing me through the internet, you know who you are. A thank you to those of you who I do know in “real life,” and read this despite having to put up with me through the week, and to those who I once knew and now use this to keep up with my life.
Thanksgiving is this week! I hope you all have time to reflect on the past year and have things to be thankful for. I myself will spend the long weekend doing an extra shift at work, so make sure you guys have some fun for me! My family is staying home this year which is nice, but different because we usually go camping or travelling a bit during this time; this puts more pressure on us to have a ‘proper’ Thanksgiving meal. I do not really like turkey or ham. We might make carne asada to eat with our instant mashed potatoes and our break-n-bake dinner rolls. THAT is what I call a Thanksgiving meal! Hope you all have a good one!
