Regarding this website.

1. I have started to work on a new layout, but it will still be taking a while before it is up.

2. I have replied to all of my comments on my more recent posts, so if you posted a comment and would like to see my response, find the post in the archives to your right.

3. A guest author has been created and she has the power to post here. I am not sure if she actually will post, but I hope she does! It might be in a few minutes, it might not be for a while. We will see.

4. Smile. This weather is lovely.

Confessions

1. I was responsible for breaking a $1,000+ ropes course at a church camp I attend sometimes, and I broke it within the first few days of its installation. The first time anybody (other than the girl who broke it with me) knew that it was me was not until a decade later. The remnants of said ropes course were not removed until the summer of 2004.

2. In high school, I cheated my way through two years of vocabulary tests. Somebody bought an answer key online, and the answers spread like wild fire.

3. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever actually allow myself to fall in love or if I will always avoid it.

4. 2005 is the year in which I have done the most things I told myself I would never do.

5. At least once daily, I get a song that I played in one of my many years of Orchestra stuck in my head.

6. The characteristics that cause me to be the most annoyed with people are the very characteristics I am afraid I posess.

7. I hate when people copy me or use my work to their benefit, but will usually allow a person to because I feel bad.

8. I wish I could take a semester or two off of school, but I am not sure I would ever come back.

9. I tend to listen in on conversations and pretend that I am not.

10. I have a kind of big secret that I have never told a single soul.

11. I am very afraid of flying objects. I tend to duck and cover if anything is thrown in my direction.

12. I still wish I was better at sports when I was younger (and maybe even now).

13. Though I try not to, I still allow myself to feel left out sometimes, and get upset at other people because of this.

14. In my first semester of college, I never turned in a final political science paper, and I failed my final in that course. Numerically, I should not have passed the course. I got a B. Since then, I have tried to have at least a couple of good conversations with each instructor as a form of insurance in case I mess up at the end.

Those are some of mine. Now fess up on some of yours!

Application Anxiety.

It seems that it is that time of the month again.

No, not that time. The time where I begin to question my current school plans and where I wonder what I am supposed to do with my life.

This month and next month mark the times when I am supposed to apply to schools for next year, and it is so frustrating. I can no longer select “undecided” as my major, that was pretty much the point in me going to a community college for a while. I love to read, but I worry that if I do a lit major, I will get sick of it. I have enjoyed my communications courses, but at the same time, they seem so easy, like I would be cheating a university for letting me get a degree in it. And that’s just two of the majors I have thought of. Sometimes, I still want to teach. Go into Journalism. Go into Political Science so that I always know what is going on. Study the histories of different cultures…

And then there is the whole issue of where I want to go to school. Just about all that I know and love is here in Long Beach. I want to study on the East Coast (especially whenever I listen to The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner). I want to study in Northern California. I want to stay in the LA/OC area. I want to go down to San Diego.

I am going to spend so much on application fees, it’s ridiculous.

This was completely a rant. A rant that many, if not all, of you have heard before. Thank you if you read it. If you have any input of what you think I should do, spill it! I want to hear it.

A mid october kind of day.

I made a post at the Downloads section with some music, go check it out!

Now then…

Everybody say it with me, “MIDTERMS ARE DONE WITH!”

…Unless of course, yours are not done with yet, in which case I wish you luck on the rest of them. I do not think I did very well on most of mine. Up until this point, I was doing well in the semester, but I really dislike having so many papers and tests at the same time. Then again, it seems like I have been in midterms for a while now. I just had my last one a few hours ago, and my first one, Spanish, was two weeks ago, I think.

Speaking of Spanish, things are kind of interesting in there. It is a five unit course, which is most units I have ever had for a single class. I figured this would mean that I would dedicate hours upon hours of reading, writing, and studying to the subject matter, but this is not the case. The past few class meetings, especially, have been easy. “Demetrio,” my instructor, has been slacking off as of late, not bothering to show up to class, letting us go an hour and a half early, you get the picture. A few wednesdays ago was our exam, which took about 20 minutes to complete. The hardest part was translating slang into proper Spanish, which I sucked at, but when that is the hardest thing you have to do… you have it pretty easy. The following Monday, Demetrio did not show up. Then last Wednesday, we took a field trip to this other room on campus that had a large projector screen and we watched a movie that involved a man raping a girl in a coma. This past monday, we finished the movie about the man raping a girl in a coma. Then today we had a potluck (which I did not bring anything to! ha!), so we got to eat tacos and cheesecake, and we watched a different movie that involved a gay rape. Interesting stuff. Actually I did not watch it. Freddy, who actually carries two sets of headphones around with him (do YOU carry around two sets?) and who has a million games on his phone amused ourselves while the rest of the class stared and he pretended to not watch it. So yes, a very easy course, but kind of pointless. And Demetrio himself… do not get me started on the different ways he has discovered to annoy me. He tries to push so much invalid political information on us… it is ridiculous.

Anyway, this is all to say that my school’s unit system does not make sense. I seriously get five times the amount of credit to watch soft porn in spanish than I do to explain the difference between hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic solutions in my Biology Lab.

Wow, I really do not know what my point in writing all of this was. Anyway. What is the hardest course you guys have taken? Do you feel the number of units you earned coincided with the difficulty of the course? Or have you ever taken an incredibly easy course for a ridiculously high number of units? I know I cannot be alone in this.

Sources of bliss.

A few of the things that make me happy.

this little guy letting me know I have a new email.

remembering what a dork I was. knowing I will remember my current dorkiness in a few years.

weather like this.

old pictures reminding me of other happy times.

and this, most of all.

He’s acting dumb, that’s what you’ve come to expect

This website, this child of mine, this son… he still needs a lot of work! I put in a different layout, I still feel cheap using it, so… after midterms are done, I will read up on Movable Type and do work to actually make my own layout. So that will be next weekish, maybe even the week after. This is not a hiatus, I will still post more than you wish I would before that time, but yeah, expect new stuff then.

New Website

Hi everybody. I opened up a new domain/website a few days ago. It is nothing too exciting and it’s kind of jumbled up, but it is what it is.

So you should check it out.

So here’s the link:

I went to New York last winter and saw the year change from 2004 to 2005. I liked it a lot so I went again in the Summer of 2005, I also saw a bit of Connecticut.

As far as the website goes, this is my second domain, and right now I am in the process of getting things set up. A few of you may have been loyal readers of my recently deceased http://oh-heck-no.net. A few more of you probably visited it at least once in a while. Most of you probably do not remember it.

Anyway, onto the current website, Changeable.net. The name was chosen because I am a very fickle person; I can never make my mind up about anything. A quick look at the thesaurus helped me find that changeable is another word for fickle; I liked how the word sounded and I registered the domain and payed for a couple months of hosting at that instant. I’m kind of impulsive like that. Anyway, I figured I should make something of the space, so here I am. The format of the website will probably change a bit, but for now it is mostly a blog, a place for pictures (the flickr gallery is really disorganized right now, so be aware of that), and a place to share some music and/or other things I am enjoying at the time. I use movable type as my publishing platform, which Maura helped me set up. I am still figuring a lot of the Movable type stuff out. I have never really used a template, so it takes some getting used to. I might switch to a different platform or do away with templates, depending on how things go. I feel like I should mention that this layout is not mine. I feel kind of bad about that, in the past I have always made my own layouts… I’m kind of wierd, I decided I wanted to get something where the HTML would actually validate becuase that would make me feel cool or something, so I used movable type and an easy to plug in layout and it doesn’t validate. And now I’m talking geek, sorry about that.

I used to really care about comments, and getting as many as I could get. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate comments, I really do. I am writing for myself now though, which is the way it should be. If any of you feel like leaving me comments, I will love you for it, but I’m not stressing it. I don’t know why it used to be such a big deal for me in the first place.

This post is sufficiently long now, so I’ll end it here. In the future I might use this as an “about me/the site” type of thing, since the one listed under the menu is nonexistant. We’ll see.

Broken love.

withyouallalong (12:01:51 AM): i broke the site

Chris21tina (12:01:56 AM): oh no!

Chris21tina (12:02:26 AM): :-(

Chris21tina (12:02:29 AM): you did

Chris21tina (12:02:33 AM): :-(
Chris21tina (12:03:02 AM): i loved that site like a son

Chris21tina (12:03:06 AM): and you broke his face!

Chris21tina (12:03:14 AM): :-(

Have fun trying to leave me a comment. It won’t work .

[edit] nevermind. if you click on the time, you’ll be able to leave a comment. Makes perfect sense. This reminds me of that episode of Full House where Jesse’s band is on tour and they stay in a crap motel; you had to put a quarter into the thing next to the bed to flush the toilet, and a quarter into the tv to make the bed shake. [/edit]

This makes me very very sad.
